Annie finds joy in matching the right book to the right person at the right time. Her career has been a journey of doing just that.
During college, she completed a stint with Americorps in Detroit public schools and directed camps in the summer, both of which highlighted the power of reading. In college in Michigan, she specialized in project-based learning and gained experience in every grade pre-K-8th.
After college, she moved to California and taught in South Los Angeles. Annie spent ten years teaching upper elementary as well as studying literacy and gifted education, eventually designing her own curriculum.
After a family move to the Bay Area in 2013, Annie switched to teaching in private schools and earned a master’s degree in Digital Literacy.
The COVID pandemic changed her direction again and she spent several years educating her daughter, a smart cookie who wasn’t finding the right fit in public school.
Most recently Annie built the library collection and program at a new private school for gifted and 2E students.
After teaching at a charter, public, private, and homeschool, Annie has decided to take her knowledge to the web where she hopes you want to ask the Book Fairy puppet for your child’s next great read.
